The South Asian Database of Controlled Clinical Trials (SADCCT)

The South Asian Database of Controlled Clinical Trials (SADCCT), launched on January 1, 2009, is an online database of clinical trials that have been conducted in countries in South Asia for which the South Asian Cochrane Network & Centre is the reference Cochrane Centre. These countries currently include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The database currently contains summary and identification details of clinical trials that have been performed in these countries assessing interventions of drugs, devices, surgical procedures, educational, behavioural or psychological interventions, lifestyle changes, other treatment, prevention and rehabilitation strategies, and complementary therapies that affect health and healthcare. These interventional trials should have been reported (as an interim, complete or follow up report) in a print or online journal, conference proceeding, dissertation or other source and should have had at least one site in one of the countries listed of ongoing or completed clinical trials involving humans, or have been part of a multi-site or multi-country trial.

The SADCCT is funded by a grant from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and is maintained by staff at the Prof BV Moses & ICMR Advanced Centre for Research & Training in Evidence-Informed Health Care at the Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India, as part of the activities of the South Asian Cochrane Network & Centre. The database is searchable by anyone free of charge and is in a process of continual development.
